0.4.0 - Bebo support and more!

There’s a fair amount in this release. Unfortunately, I’ve had to rush releasing it due to yet another Brimstone breaking change made to Warbook. So I apologise if there are a few rough edges. So what’s new?

Bug Fixes:

* Brimstone created unknown events when building/razing buildings
* Brimstone got confused by the new time information on the message log and would add events multiple times

New Features:

* Bebo support - Brimstone will now allow you to have both a Facebook and Bebo Warbook account and swap player info accordingly
* New option to save all events to a log file
* New option to hide zero/empty building/unit counts in player information (saves screen space)
* Ability to copy player info to clipboard (Ctrl+C or right-click -> Copy)
* Brimstone now reads Faction and Alliance info (although not your own alliance as I’m not in one and so don’t know how this works)

I think that’s it. You can get it from http://www.xuluwarrior.com/brimstone/release/brimstone-0.4.0.xpi or just use auto update.

Enjoy!

    Thanks for the update.

Where does the log file get created and what is it called?

  2. xuluwarrior Says:

    Its in your Firefox profile\brimstonedata\events.log

If you are using Windows then your profile will be in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

There may be multiple profile directories depending on how you use Firefox, but usually there is only one.

Thanks, and thanks again for putting together such a great tool. It really helps make Warbook more fun.

    Hi again :)

AS you now, I’m a very happy user of Brimstone, but after the last update, I get a lot of messages saying “A script has stopped working … bla bla … Would you like to stop the script or continue?”

Is that Brimstone? It also will not switch back to my WB account after another player had a go on my comp. What’s missing is the defense, attack etc part - but that’s the main thing in my warring life :)

Ah … sorry, might have sounded the horn a bit early on the last part … Got an correct update now, but it took like 12 hours :)

same here…as Kari….getting the same messages and WB hangs for a long time before that message comes up.

If you start a new firefox page, it takes a long time to get it to open….then you get the message.
It also locks up everything on my computer until its done….Just have to sit there and wait…..if you hit stop then the browser fill finish loading, but with no info in Brimstone….if you hit continue loading script then in just a couple of minutes its will finish….

This happens regularily in WB but is most noticeable on the heros page….and will always result in the message…

Also I don’t get any attack or defense info anymore….just pointless to even spy since Brimstone won’t update….

It will update target name, acres etc…..but will not update survey or calculate attack and defense…

Hope this gets fixed soon.. LOL.

This is all since I installed the 0.4.0

Gonna uninstall 4.0 and go back to the last one….

Let me know if you have any questions..

The only reason I can think that Brimstone would cause Firefox to hang when starting up would be if you have a huge amount of data to load. I don’t know how much too much data would be but eventually Firefox will complain that Brimstone is taking to long to load.

Currently, the only solution to this would be to use the “Clear ALL Data” option. A bit extreme I know and you should only do it if you really don’t mind losing previous data.

I’ll work on a better solution.

The problem with Brimstone not reading spy and survey is due to yet another change in Warbook which changed the way the spy reports are returned. The problem only affects reports on kingdoms with a space in their name.

I have released a new version of Brimstone (0.4.0.1) which should fix this.

Having discovered the bug with saving events repeatedly (fixed in 0.4.0.2) my guess is that this is the cause of the slow loading. If you load Brimstone how many events are shown in the event log?

about the log file. I’d really like to change the directory to which it is written, and I’d really like to be able to open the file. What format is it in, and can be made to be compatible with excel, or access, or plain text?

  10. xuluwarrior Says:

The log file is a plain text file. I will add the ability to choose the log location. However, I am in the process of beta testing for the next release (0.5) and so it won’t make the next release. But I will make a point of fixing any minor bugs/features such as this one soon after.
